Czech Republic acknowledges 10th Century St. Václav [“Good King Wenceslaus”] as its patron saint. He was an unusually well educated leader who embraced Christianity and moved his nation's alliances westward. His groundwork led to Bohemia's ascendance in Europe. For a time Prague was the seat of the Holy Roman Empire. Václav's name is synonymous with Czech statehood and his feast day serves as an unofficial holiday.

In general, a Czech’s nameday („svátek“) is like a second birthday. It calls for celebration. Little Prague established its annual Czech Fall Fest („Svatováclavské posvícení“) to properly celebrate both manager Václav Burger’s and the saint's nameday. As tradition dictates, the event includes good food, live music, and Bohemian conviviality. It's much like an Oktoberfest in form.
